Dr. Jackson Otieno is a Senior Research and Policy Analyst at AFIDEP, specializing in health financing. He leads AFIDEP’s Health Financing projects, which supports African countries to strengthen domestic health financing systems, with a particular focus on primary health care and improving health outcomes for women and girls. He also serves as the Technical Co-Lead for the Financing Accelerator Network for Non-Communicable Diseases (FAN) in Sub-Saharan Africa. FAN brings together countries in the region to provide tailored, on-demand technical support for NCD financing reforms, foster cross-country learning, and provide catalytic seed funding to advance innovative NCD financing practices.

Dr. Otieno has over 20 years of experience across public and non-governmental sectors. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cape Town. His research interests include health systems strengthening, environment and climate change, and development economics more broadly.
