Fitsum Alemayehu

AU Liaison Manager

Fitsum Alemayehu

I operate at the intersection of public health security, environmental sustainability, and institutional governance across Africa. With over a decade of experience bridging the gap between grassroots community realities and high-level multilateral frameworks, I specialize in translating complex policy into actionable, regional-scale strategies.

As the African Union (AU) Liaison Manager for WACI Health and Coordinator for the African Civil Society Platform for Health (CiSPHA), I serve as a strategic interlocutor with continental bodies, including the African Union Commission (AUC), Africa CDC, AUDA-NEPAD, Africa Medicines Agency and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). My expertise lies in a dual capability: executing rigorous policy research and technical design while simultaneously mobilizing and navigating complex, multi-stakeholder coalitions.

I have a demonstrated track record in designing, managing, and evaluating programs, strategies, and advocacy plans on Pandemic Prevention Preparedness and Response (PPPR), Universal Health Coverage (UHC), Health Financing, Health System Strengthening, HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria advocacy; to improve access, equity, and quality of care. I have led and contributed to the development and implementation of organizational strategic plans, governance frameworks in alignment with global health standards and country priorities.

I have provided technical assistance in PPR, UHC, Health Financing programs where I have contributed to the development of community-led monitoring frameworks, pandemic response strategies, and resilience-building initiatives. I also have a deep understanding of Global Fund architecture and funding mechanisms, having successfully supported resource mobilization, grant development, and program implementation
