Jean-Bertrand Azapmo is an international trade policy expert specializing in economic integration and trade negotiations across Africa and the Pacific. He brings over 15 years of experience in designing, negotiating, and implementing trade policies, with a strong focus on leveraging regional integration as a driver of competitiveness and sustainable development in emerging economies.

He currently serves as a senior advisor to the African Union Commission, where he plays a key role in advancing the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), including initiatives such as the African Trade Observatory and digital trade strategies. Prior to this, he worked as a trade advisor for the Federated States of Micronesia and contributed to several international trade negotiations. He holds a PhD in international trade law, along with advanced degrees in diplomacy and legal studies.
