Maximilienne is a leading Cameroonian activist who has served as the Executive Director of the Central Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (REDHAC) since 2010. REDHAC is a regional organization based in Douala, active in eight Central African countries, dedicated to protecting human rights defenders and promoting fundamental freedoms. Active since the 1990s, she has established herself as a central figure in the struggle for democracy, civil rights, social justice, and freedom of expression.

Within REDHAC, she coordinates investigations into human rights violations, implements protection mechanisms for activists at risk, and carries out advocacy with African and international institutions. She also serves on the board of the Pan-African Human Rights Defenders Network and is the treasurer of the Network for African Democracy.

Her commitment has earned her several prestigious awards, including the Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law (2016), the International Women of Courage Award presented by the U.S. Department of State (2021), and the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award (2022), which she shares with Cameroonian lawyer Félix Agbor Nkongho.
